Managing Consultant - Environmental Policy
As a Managing Consultant this is your chance to join a global consultancy firm and work within their growing environmental policy practice, one that works extensively for UK Government departments such as Defra, agencies as well as the European Commission, NGOs and industry associations. A large portion of this work involves economic analysis and evaluation of public policies, programmes and contexts.
In this role you will tackle issues at the top of today's policy agenda across a number of key fields including; Biodiversity and natural capital, Protected areas and conservation, Green economy, Environmental governance, Agriculture and fisheries and food safety, nutrition and health. You will be working on many of today's most important policy issues, providing robust evidence and strategic support.
From day one, you will contribute to a diverse range of assignments by undertaking qualitative and quantitative research and analysis that impacts directly on public policy decisions. In parallel, you will be provided with the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills further through excellent training and development support, structured career guidance systems, an excellent mentoring programme, communities of practice and line management arrangements.
In the role of Managing Consultant as part of your daily tasks your main responsibilities will be to; Undertake policy and/or economic research and analysis, prepare descriptive and analytical reports, contribute to the management of projects and tasks, help the business win new work by contributing to compelling proposals and pursue business development opportunities and build networks and partnerships.
Ideally as the successful candidate you will have relevant professional experience of at least 8 years within the context of UK or EU public policy in a related field and hold a Degree, Master's degree or PhD in a relevant discipline along with demonstrable interest and experience in environmental policy and strong qualitative, quantitative and analytical skills. You should also have a good understanding of UK and/or European policy-making process (any experience of working on assignments for the UK Government or European Commission and /or fluency in at least one additional European language would be an advantageous to you).
Previous knowledge and understanding of economic analysis and appraisal, impact assessment, evaluation and/or environmental economics along with business development experience, including contributing to proposals / grant applications will be of great benefit to you in this role.
Ideally you will be based in either London, Birmingham, Leeds or Plymouth although for the right candidate home working will be considered.
