Openplant PowerPID Support Technician - Water


The OpenPlant PowerPID Support Technician is required to aid the P&ID Coordinator and intelligent P&ID (iP&ID) Software Development Team in the customization, production, maintenance and management of iP&IDs for UK water and wastewater projects. To provide input and support for engineering data management and schedule creation, in addition to support the training of CAD technicians and designers in the use of Openplant PowerPID.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Create symbols and intelligent components using OpenPlant PowerPID tools including Class Editor and Component Manager
  • To provide ongoing maintenance of the iP&ID software functionality including tagging conventions and drawing-specific standards such as line styles, scales and grid settings
  • Provide input and support for engineering data management and schedule creation
  • Work with the Data Analysts as part of the iP&ID Development Team to complete software development work
  • Liaise with the P&ID Coordinator to agree and manage company and client-specific symbol sets
  • Ensure that the CAD technicians have fully functional customized project software platforms to carry out their drafting work
  • Interpret designers' needs and liaising with project teams to create and maintain data transfer between iP&IDs, project database and associated schedules
  • Test all customisation, development and maintenance work associated with the iP&ID software including data transfer between the iP&ID database and bespoke schedules
  • Liaise with the Business ProjectWise Administrator as necessary to maintain project folders
  • Eventually responsible for helping with in-house training and support for designers, CAD technicians, and general users
