Presales Engineer

Allen & York's Energy Generation team are working on the behalf of a leading and independent software vendor. The company's specialised software provides energy management and information systems within renewable energy, smart buildings and smart grids in order to optimise the operational performance of assets.
The successful candidate will be working closely with the sales manager providing expert knowledge on how the company's software can enhance O&M performance to potential customers within solar PV and wind energy.
• Supports worldwide key account sales managers including product demonstrations (live and web)
• Proactively scoping technical solution required to address customer requirements, customers' needs assessment, and recommending optimum solutions to ensure appropriate support for the proposed solution
• Management of trial phase (pilote sites) and responsible for quality delivery during the whole pilote phase, alerting team of potential sources of customer dissatisfaction 
• Monitors R&D/ customer support for technical solutions proposed throughout the sales process, alerting sales and account teams of potential risks of non-closure 
• Participates to answering RFI/RFQ/RFP together with the Key Account Sales managers, supporting the Sales Manager with solution advice, proposals, presentations, and other customer communications 
• Participates in conferences, shows, exhibitions when appropriate and requested
• Supports technical and marketing needs including content development, generation and delivery of product webinars, videos creation, writing whitepapers, and other technical marketing related activities
• Provides training to customers when required and supports training needs including content development and review
• Provides subject matter expertise in renewable solar and/or wind O&M processes
• Works closely with both product management and engineering teams providing feedback and voicing customer's interests to drive future revenue based on market needs,
• Shares with key account sales manager assigned targets for profitable sales growth in designated product lines and/or market areas. 
• Gathers and assess customer technical needs
• Identify related needs (lead generation, opportunity expansion) and site-specific parameters and constraints that impact the solution
• Identifies probable competition
• Investigates and optimiszes a solution's fit to the requirements of an opportunity
• Establishes the validity of a solution and its components
• Generates an implementation plan with timelines for the solution
• Anticipates some of the potential challenges for the proposed project plan
• Maintains excellent communications with customers
• Advances opportunities through the use of effective consultative selling techniques
• Builds customer loyalty through being a trusted advisor


• Four year college degree from an accredited institution,
• 3-4 years customer facing activities in a B2B environment, 
• Ideally renewables O&M experience, 
• Knowledge of O&M solutions, including company Services,
• Strong technical capabilities in assigned area of specialization,
• Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing team member for large complex projects,
• Has demonstrated hands-on level skills with some of the technology,
• Understands basic business structures and processes in assigned area of responsibility,
• Demonstrates good questioning techniques and related communications skills,
• Strong technical selling skills,
• IT background and interest,
• Language: English mother tongue, German appreciated,
• Practical, proactive, solution provider, excellent communication skills, 
• Analytical rigor, precision, curiosity,
• Good knowledge of renewables market,
• This position will require international travel (30%).
