Allen & York are delighted to be working with a local authority in the North East who are looking for a passionate Principal Ecologist to play a key role within their Strategic & Sustainable Plans Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead on key projects to help ensure delivery against ambitious City Plan goals, while contributing to the ongoing development of their planning policy and supporting the work of the Local Planning Authority.
What skills will you need to succeed?
An in-depth understanding of all relevant legislation and national policy related to Ecology, as well as knowledge of site-specific designations, priority habitats and species.
Demonstrable ability to assess the ecological impacts of developments and identify appropriate measures for mitigation.
Ability to identify and develop opportunities into tangible projects.
Manage and support the Ecology team to ensure the natural environment is protected and enhanced.
A degree in a field directly related to Ecology (Biological, Environmental, Countryside Management or other Ecological discipline) or significant experience in a similar role.
Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (MCIEEM).
