An opportunity for a Principal Highway Engineer to a well-known professional services and engineering consultancy based at their site in East Grinstead. This role is within their highway engineering team which forms part of the civil engineering service.

The ideal candidate for this role will have postgrad experience, be a Chartered Engineer with experience already gained in the design of highway infrastructure. You will be tasked lead highway project design teams and work on a variety of projects.

Key tasks:

·Supervision and management of the work for project design teams from graduate level upwards.

·Technical responsibility and ownership of activities i.e. preparation of highway design solutions for major civil engineering works at through preliminary, tender, and design stages.

·Mentor and develop teams of Graduates, Engineers and Technicians through stages for civil engineering.

·Oversee financial and technical elements for design services.

·Act as the first point of contact for customers, contractors and other stakeholders.

Essential skills:

·Degree in civil engineering and Chartered Engineer status via Institution of Civil Engineers.

·Proven high design and post grad experience in civil engineering infrastructure

·Experience in two or more of the following: road geometry, roadside features, drainage, pavement design, traffic signs or vehicle restraint systems.

·Knowledge DMRB requirements and working within quality management procedures.

·Experience of working with contractors on design and build projects and Highways of Highways England or local authority design and technical approval processes.

·Preferred but not essential use of Bentley OpenRoads or similar software.
