Project Administration Officer (Part-Time, Flexible Working)

Job description

Project Administration Officer (Part-Time, Flexible Working)

Location: Home-based, ideally located within easy travelling distance of the East of England or London. The role includes monthly in-person team meetings.

Salary: £26,000 – £30,500 (full-time equivalent, depending on experience)

Join a team shaping the future of water in the East of England.

Water Resources East (WRE) is looking for a highly organised and proactive Project Administration Officer to support our growing portfolio of projects tackling one of the region’s most important challenges: water security.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key supporting role in meaningful, high-impact work—helping deliver projects that make a real difference to agriculture, the environment, and communities.

About the Role

You’ll provide essential administrative support across a range of projects, working closely with the team to ensure smooth delivery. Initially, your focus will be on supporting a major agricultural grant scheme in Cambridgeshire, before expanding into wider project support across WRE.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same—ideal for someone who thrives on organisation, detail, and teamwork.

What You’ll Be Doing

•Supporting project managers with financial administration and purchasing processes

•Managing grant applications using Microsoft 365 systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance

•Organising meetings (online and in-person), including scheduling, agendas, minutes, and follow-ups

•Assisting with workshops and events logistics across the East of England

•Maintaining project documentation and SharePoint systems

•Handling inbox enquiries and stakeholder communications

•Supporting reporting, data management, and presentation preparation

•Contributing to wider team activities, including communications and engagement work

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is:

•Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

•Comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines

•Experienced in administration, purchasing, and financial processes

•A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills

•Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote team

Essential skills & experience:

•Background in business administration, project management, or similar (or equivalent experience)

•Experience with financial systems or ability to learn quickly

•Strong Microsoft Office skills (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)

•Experience managing stakeholder queries

Desirable:

•Experience with PowerPoint, websites, or social media

•Awareness of water or environmental issues

Benefits

•26 days annual leave (increasing with service) + bank holidays

•Bonus scheme

•Employer pension contributions up to 12%

•Private health insurance

•Flexible working arrangements

•Monthly team meetups

•Ongoing training and development opportunities

Why Join WRE?

At WRE, you’ll be part of a small, collaborative team working on innovative solutions to regional water challenges. We’re committed to creating an inclusive, supportive workplace where everyone can grow and contribute.

Please note: Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Apply now and be part of a team making a lasting impact.
