I have a great opportunity for seasonal and assistant level ecologists to become part of highly skilled ecological team, based out of either oxford or Cambridge. You will be given the best quality training available to develop yourself into a well-rounded ecologist. You will be working an interesting range of projects and get to experience all aspects of ecology; from bidding for project, right through to the final report, and all the field work carried out in-between!
Within this role you will be tasked with undertaking a range of ecological surveys including extended phase 1 habitat surveys, mitigation impact assessments and European protected species surveys. You will be assisted by a senior member of staff who will help develop your skill-set, both in the field and in the office. Whilst in the office you will be undertaking the task of initial desk studies, data management and analysis, as well as report writing. You will get an insight into the business development strategies used within the environmental sector as you will be aiding the creation of proposals and quotes.
You will be working in a wide range of sectors allowing you to gain an excellent understanding of all aspects of ecology and become commercially aware within the industry.
You will still be expected to deliver an outstanding quality of work, ensure that it is completed within the agreed timescales and that it fits the clients brief and specifications.
There will be a focus within this role of gaining experience with protected species licencing, allowing you to become a named ecologist on multiple EPS licences.

Skills/Experience required for the role
- A knowledge of survey techniques.
- An invested interest in ecology and conservation.
- Good data management and analysis skills.
- Knowledge of Ecological impact assessments.
- Experience of protected species surveying desirable.
- Enthusiasm for a career in ecology.
- Excellent literacy skills
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- The ability to work under time constraints
- A degree and/ or a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- A Full UK driving licence is required for this position
