A unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ecologist to become a vital member of a newly expanding ecological team. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to have strong influence over the direction of the companies' ecological sector and have the ability to build and create a strong team of ecologists.
The successful candidate can be based anywhere in the region north of London and south of Birmingham. The role is home based, with monthly meetings scheduled with the ecology head. For a candidate based in, or nearby Essex, there will be the opportunity to work out of the Billericay head office if desired.
The successful candidate will have a breadth of knowledge within ecology and experience of working projects in a variety of sectors.
You will be working a range of projects, from large infrastructure to smaller landscape developments. A sound understanding of survey and mitigation techniques and EPS licencing is therefore required.
Given the circumstances of this role, you will become a vital part of the ecological department and will be given the chance to grow and expand your team of ecologists. You must therefore have excellent staff management skills and a solid commercial understanding of the industry.
You will be expected to provide training to your junior peers and aid their development, you will also be expected to work with subcontractors and other ecology specialists.
As the successful candidate you will be expected to make regular site visits and the occasional office visit.

Due to the size of the company, my client is looking to create a highly experienced team to focus on internal projects and offer their expertise in a variety of sectors.
There is a highly competitive salary offered, with a generous bi-annual bonus scheme. A company car will also be provided.
- At least one protected species licence
- Experience in authoring ecological reports
- Experience of mentoring junior employees
- Experience of biodiversity net gain assessments, offsetting and enhancement
- Project management experience (including financial aspects)
- Past experience of employee management
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good communication skills between stake holders, third parties and your seniors.
- A strong personal motivation
- A degree and/ or a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- A Full UK driving licence is required for this position
