Senior Environmental Consultant - EIA - Leeds

The Role

This is an opportunity to join one of the leading Multi-Disciplinary Environmental Consultancy's as an Environmental Consultant. You will be an experienced environmental consultant, with an excellent understanding of the UK planning and consents process. You will have a strong track record in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and management of infrastructure projects. The role will include;

* Coordinating or supporting the delivery of high-quality EIA for a variety of infrastructure projects (with an initial focus on highways but working across a range of sectors)
* Preparing Environmental Statements and other environmental reports
* Advising clients on the UK development planning systems
* Project managing multidisciplinary environmental teams
* Co-ordinating work of engineers and other environmental technical specialists
* Business development and winning new work, with support from others
* To mentor junior staff and encourage their personal development goals

Skills/Experience required for the role

* Degree qualified in environmental science
* Ideally a post graduate degree of MSc or higher
* Chartered Environmentalist status with a relevant institution (likely to be IEMA)
* Typically, 8+ years' post graduate degree consultancy experience delivering EIA
* Demonstrable experience in leading environmental impact assessment of major Highways England projects and compliance with their governance processes and/or rail, energy, water or mixed-use developments would be an advantage
* Specialist technical skill in an EIA topic would be a distinct advantage
* In depth practical knowledge and experience of environmental requirements for consenting of infrastructure projects in the UK
* Good knowledge of the UK and European Union environmental regulatory framework, Policy and Guidance
* Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable experience of liaising with and managing clients and developing business
* Strong desire to encourage junior team members in their professional development
