Their highways team is currently looking for a new Senior Highways Engineer to join them in Manchester, to work on local, national and international schemes. You will provide team management and the necessary highways technical experience and mentoring to support other team members. You will work on a range of interesting and challenging projects, at multiple scales.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical input, technical leadership and project management across a range of specialisms in the field of highway engineering
  • Show technical leadership and through experience, mentor and guide the skills of others in computer based applications and tasks including use of software such as MX, WinDES, and the Microsoft Office Suite of programmes including MSProject
  • Undertake Project activities in line with Company Policy, including technical and commercial aspects, as appropriate to your grade
  • Take a lead role on projects within particular skill area - e.g. drainage team leader, pavement design leader, geometric layout
  • Plan, lead and undertake site visits and meetings, as required
  • Liaison with sub-consultants and external parties, as required

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment, operating across a matrix of projects
  • Experience of preparing written work
  • Experience of preparing for and attending meetings with clients and / or statutory consultees
  • Project management or asset management
  • Experience with a mixture of alignment design, drainage design, pavement design and refurbishment, signs and road markings / safety barriers
  • Management of design and delivery of highway maintenance schemes
  • Preferably, a degree qualified civil engineer with strong experience, working in a highways design environment in either new build or maintenance
  • Preferably working towards Chartered Engineer status (MICE and or MCIHT)
