Principal / Senior Transport Planner - Glasgow or Edinburgh

Permanent - Full Time/Flexible

The Opportunity

My client is an independent consultancy providing transport planning, engineering, planning and economics services to the public and private sectors.

Currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Principal or Senior Transport Planner with at least 7 years' experience to join their Glasgow or Edinburgh transport teams on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a range of high-profile transport projects, including major scheme appraisals, development of transport strategies, business cases and data analysis.

Key responsibilities / duties include:

  • Providing technical support on a range of transport projects across the UK, including transport appraisals and strategies;

  • Undertaking and supporting businesses cases to inform transport investment decisions;

  • Managing and analysing large data sets;

  • Conducting primary and desk-based research to support planning and transport projects;

  • Task and Project management - delivering projects to time and budget; and

  • Preparing material for fee proposals and tenders.

About You

Capabilities and Qualifications

The ideal Candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic team player, who has a degree / higher level qualification ideally in Transport Planning, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operational Research or equivalent.

The ideal candidate must have/be:

  • Highly numerate;

  • Excellent report writing skills;

  • Proficiency in the use of Excel;

  • An excellent communicator and confident to attend meetings and advise clients and technical team members as appropriate;

  • Self-motivated;

  • An interest in keeping up to date with developments in transport planning;

  • Experience of meeting demanding deadlines; and

  • Experience of consultation and engagement.
