Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Northwich, Cheshire

Salary: Competitive
Start Date: ASAP
REF: BBBH28668
Contact Name: Kathryn Pereira

Allen & York are delighted to be working with one of the largest dairy producers in the British Isles to recruit a Sustainability Manager to join their business and work with suppliers to embed sustainability initiatives across the estate.

This newly created role is multi-faceted and involves stakeholder engagement, knowledge of designing and implementing a sustainability strategy and reducing carbon output. Liaising with farmers and the procurement team predominantly, the strongest candidates will come from an agricultural background and be experienced at engaging with, understanding, educating and bringing farmers on board, working with them on carbon reduction and supply chain issues to ensure they're sustainable. Your credibility in the agricultural sector will be hugely valuable, as will your ability to engage with farmers, listen to them, understand their issues and work together to develop action plans, which will be unique for each farm. Your knowledge of supply chain issues, carbon reduction strategies and wider environmental and sustainability issues such as environmental legislation and compliance will also be required.

Whilst the initial focus is on working with suppliers, in time this role is likely to expand to incorporate the manufacturing sites, thus providing room for growth and you'll be the go-to person for all things sustainability focused, including communicating the successes both internally and externally. As with most sustainability roles, there will be an expectation to ensure the effective collection of environmental data, analysing this and reporting on it to the Board.

Based in North West England/ North Wales, this role necessitates a large amount of travel throughout the UK (including Northern Ireland) so you'll need to be comfortable doing this but it would be good to be based near the offices where the other Teams are based. You'll be joining a progressive organisation with a relaxed, family feel, not corporate or hierarchical so decisions are made more quickly and you'll be working with likeminded individuals with a passion for the environment, agriculture and the products they produce.

So if you're confident this role suits your skillset and you'd like to find out more, call Katie on 01202 888986 ext 207.
