The Business Development Director, Middle East, will be responsible for leading the Company's project development and business development efforts within the region. This position will be based in Dubai, UAE and will report to the regional Managing Director. This role is primarily responsible for securing sites and projects to develop solar Power Plants, as well as closing exclusivity deals with development partners. This cross functional position will be responsible for all phases of the projects' life cycle, including prospecting, site identification, site acquisition, mid- and late-stage development, and support of project financing and closing of transactions.

  • Lead all existing Company's development and transaction related activities across the Middle East, including the Arabian Peninsula and Jordan, reporting to the Regional Managing Director
  • Expand Company's pipeline of solar power projects while driving conversion to revenue on forecasted and committed timeline
  • Develop Company's own project pipeline as well as EPC/Turnkey contract sales to third party developers
  • Identify and negotiate partnerships with new or existing customers and developers
  • Working very cross-functionally with other departments involved in the overall advancement of projects including Origination, Engineering, Construction, Legal, Accounting and Finance teams
  • Supporting M&A and project financing activities at various stages of the project lifecycle
  • Representing Company's with external project stakeholders including landowners, permitting agencies, transmission providers, and at public hearings and government and community events
  • Frequent travel (40%) required within Middle East, with quarterly travel to Company's EMEA offices depending on business unit interaction
  • University degree in engineering, economics or business.
  • 15+ years' experience in energy industry or infrastructure environment, ideally in the electric power generation sector
  • 15+ years' experience in complex selling: prospects comprise multiple "buyers" in different parts of the organization, selling a value-based proposal to large organizations in the utility sector at executive level
  • Experience in energy industry, large construction, and/or project finance

  • 15+ years' experience with commercial and/or utility solar project development
  • MBA preferred
  • Track record of independently leading multi-disciplinary teams in closing utility-scale renewable energy projects
