Chief Architect Telecoms
ALLEN & YORK are currently working on a Chief Architect position for one of the largest telecoms providers in the UK. They specialise in the provision of high performance Ethernet, optical networking and co-location services for customers whose businesses depend upon the availability and performance of cloud, IT and communications assets.
This position will lead, manage and develop a high performing customer - aware technical team, whose main role is to deliver a distinctive and differentiated customer experience, profitably, competitively and based upon sound engineering and support principles.
The successful individual be responsible for interpreting our business goals and strategies and extracting information of architectural importance. You will create the future state architecture and will review the impact of the proposed scope changes. You will manage the change process at the same time developing strong working relationships with our key internal and external customers, positioning our team as valued advisors as well as reliable business partners.
You will be accountable for ensuring the solutions/services delivered agree with business objectives. You will review the designs provided by the team ensuring the required technologies work together, identifying any integration and risk issues. You will be the subject matter expert and will help us to provide competitive, distinctive and best value services.
To be successful in this role, you should have knowledge of suppliers, industry bodies and competitors within the telecoms industry and awareness of large enterprise customers and experience of business transformation. You will have a track record of working closely with telecoms vendors (ideally but not limited to Alcatel, Ciena, Cisco) and will be able to demonstrate business experience, including medium scale capital programme management, business case development and agreement and Profit and Loss reporting. You will be highly experienced in B2B fixed line data networking, have practical knowledge of SDN and NFV, layer 2 and 3 switching and routing and a deep understanding of WDM, ROADM, metro and long haul optical, and packet/optical platform convergence.
A full appreciation of network security techniques is essential as is practical experience of OSS and BSS for voice, internet, Ethernet and optical services. Knowledge of Fibre optics, optical, Ethernet, transmission data networks, voice, and video conferencing technologies is also essential for this role.
This role will need candidates with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and proven experience of leading diverse technical teams. You will be confident and articulate. You will thrive under pressure, and will have the ability to build, develop and lead a team of highly skilled network architects.
Flexibility will be required for this role as regular travel in the UK will be required; therefore a full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
