Our client is within a well-known consultancy managing major changes in the energy sector.

This role is to manage the end to end Change processes across the Energy Team contracts, the successful employee must be flexible in their approach ensuring the correct process and workflows culminating in a decision to either authorise or reject a Change Proposal within agreed timescales and at appropriate levels of authority, dependant on the risk and impact of a Change Proposal.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and facilitating industry discussions to identify and develop solutions and documenting the business requirements and changes to industry configurable items for each identified solution.
  • Managing and ensuring Industry Releases are implemented as per delivery timetables set out, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure communications are issued at appropriate points in the change lifecycle.
  • Developing best practice for the Energy team and its clients and working across Delivery Directorate to agree and implement new practices.
  • Progressing Change Proposals from inception through to decision, supporting the Proposer or Client for each change throughout.
  • Supporting and facilitating industry discussions to identify and develop solutions and documenting the business requirements and changes to industry configurable items for each identified solution.

  • Preparing a range of reports and supporting material that cover the details, governance discussions and recommendations for each Change Proposal.
  • Presenting the findings and recommendations for each Change Proposal to relevant Change Boards or Expert Groups.
  • Liaising with and presenting to other industry stakeholders or forums, including regulatory and governance bodies, building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Providing support with answering queries received through the various industry helpdesks.
  • Continuously improving the products, techniques and procedures used within the team.
  • Participate in team or cross-company projects and initiatives, as required.
  • Monitor and report on change process performance, taking accountability for process KPI performance.
  • Leading on business process modelling activities.
  • Creating and executing project plans, adapting them as appropriate to meet the changing needs of each project and client requirements.
  • Continually raise the profile of managing change across the Energy Team, SDS Team, Client Contracts and 3rd Parties ensuring relevant knowledge is transferred and training resources are in place;
  • Periodically audit the processes to ensure appropriate levels of compliance and quality are maintained always.

Requirements

  • Flexible on the type of candidates that we employee but ideally, we are looking for candidates to have an exposure to the UK retail utilities industry, preferably electricity, or gas.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will be able to communicate complex issues, solutions and arguments to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Have excellent planning and organisational abilities, able to manage time and a varied workload, and is flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Have experience in process modelling and practical use of process modelling tools (e.g. Visio, Casewise).
  • Strive for excellence in their work and can deliver high quality work, being methodical, diligent and paying attention to the detail.

  • Familiar with project management approaches, tools and project lifecycle phases.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • To be successful in this role, the candidate must have experience in the GB retail energy sector, preferably in the electricity, gas or smart metering areas. They must have an understanding and experience of industry code governance, energy networks and/or energy markets.
