Financial Performance Analyst

West Midlands

Role objective

The role will provide financial and commercial performance decision support to the Business Leaders and their teams on the delivery of planned business performance. The role will provide valuable modelling, reporting, decision support and insight to support the delivery of in year plans. The role will ensure financial controls are respected and drive a performance management outcome based culture throughout the business area.

Key accountabilities

  • Work with Performance & Planning colleagues in developing the performance framework to ensure that the right measures are being focussed on to deliver the required level of business performance.
  • Creation of budget and periodic forecasts for OPEX and IRE.
  • Provide compelling analysis and insight: o Analysis, insight and management support to deliver in year performance in line with control framework and forecast updates. Ensure that a constant lens exists on a forward looking view of business performance.
  • Provide compelling insight and analysis to identify trends and opportunities & risks to annual performance. Work with teams to develop improvement plans to capitalise on opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Provide insight and analysis based on the drivers of spend.
  • Ensure that the operational teams have the right level of support to deliver key business processes.
  • Act as an ambassador to ensure best practice is shared.
  • Act as a financial mentor to business leads to ensure performance is understood and training available where required.
  • Ensure that the appropriate levels of controls exist to prevent control weakness in transaction recording and inaccurate reporting of results.
  • Provide information and insight as required to the planning teams for support to the multi-year planning process.
  • Provide ad-hoc modelling as required.


  • In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have: Essential:
  • Substantive commercial and/or finance experience with significant operational exposure.
  • Strong track record of taking the lead in diagnosing business issues and through business partnering delivering a step change in performance.
  • First class stakeholder management expertise.
  • Strong MS Office, SAP ECC and BI capabilities.

  • Strong influencing skills both at senior level and front line operations. Must be able to credibly advise, guide and constructively challenge when required.
  • Excellent communications skills & the ability to build strong relationships with business.
  • Strong Commercial decision support evaluation skills based on sound operational and financial judgement.
