MEA H&S Manager (North)
Our client a global technology provider is seeking a Health and Safety manager for their Middle East and North Africa Operation.
This position operates within the MEA Health and Safety team, reports to the Head of Health and Safety and is responsible for the leadership and implementation of Health and Safety services across the MEA Market. The area of coverage is North Africa, Middle East and Pakistan. Responsible for all aspects of H&S policy, advice and auditing.
Implements Global H&S standards, Drives the translation of Global H&S standards into local implementation by reviewing local legislation, local practices, culture and mode of operation.
Liaises and works with Regional/Global H&S on Global Standards and ensures that documentation is current and in place.
Liaises with Internal and External stakeholders to ensure localization, cascading, understanding and implementation of H&S practices.
Monitors and audits H&S implementation to ensure compliance with mandated H&S standards and to identify and rectify areas of non-compliance.
Provides a source of technical knowledge for all risk areas in Sub-Region including Road Safety, electrical work and the management of contractors.
Provides ongoing liaison with local teams on all high risk area issues and attends training where applicable.
Identifies resource gaps in the field and prepares business case/resource mapping to define requirements and deliverables.
Assists with skills development planning.
As the ideal candidate you will have;
Previous experience of H&S management within the MENA region including H&S action planning is essential
Typically 5-10 years relevant experience, Master's degree or equivalent work experience.
Recognised expert in H&S field (H&S related professional certificates).
Advanced knowledge of international health and safety management systems and standards (e.g OHSAS 18001.
Detailed understanding on the operational implementation of H&S needed; practical experience in operations (manufacturing and/or field operations) and intercultural working environment in a global matrix organization.
Ability and willingness to travel within the Sub-Region, including to locations which are considered high or extreme risk. Travel is considered to be an important part of the job and it is estimated that the job holder will spend between 15 and 25% of their time out of their base office location.
Fluency in English, Arabic and French is essential.
