Historic Environment Manager - Essex

My client is a consultancy offering an unusual opportunity offering the best of both public and private sector work. You'll be serving as the lead of one of their three business teams. You'll be working in conjunction with Planners, Urban Designers, Landscape Architects, Historic Environment Advisors, Ecologists, Arboriculturists in an exciting role.

Main Duties

  • Line management of the historic environment team
  • Delegate task as appropriate
  • Recruit permanent members of staff and manage subcontractors
  • Actively coach and mentor the team
  • Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of work
  • Provide quality of advice, information, analysis and interpretation to clients
  • Contribute technical skills and knowledge to improve work quality
  • Promote and manage partnerships with internal customers and external organisations
  • Responsible for delivering an annually reviewed income target
  • Manage the financial responsibilities of the team
  • Business development

Who you are:

  • Degree in a historic environment discipline
  • Professional qualification e.g. CIfA, IHBC
  • Proven track record demonstrating a high level of responsibility and credibility
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience of how the historic, built and natural environment interacts with the UK planning process
  • Experience of managing a professional team
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities
  • Good understanding of budgetary responsibilities
  • Excellent project management experience
