Our client is one of the country's leading training providers for Apprenticeships and other work-based learning programmes. They are currently looking to recruit a Learning & Skills Manager, this is National role.

Purpose of Role:

  • To implement and manage the delivery of high quality teaching, learning and assessment of mathematics, English and ICT across the provision, nationally
  • To implement and deliver high quality staff development to impact the delivery, achievement and attainment for learners undertaking Functional Skills, GCSE or accessing Learning Support
  • To develop and oversee support for learners with identified additional learning needs
  • Lead and develop teaching and learning to ensure equal access for all learners
  • Deliver Excellence in Learning and Outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment to every learner, every time.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Drive, design, develop and manage an effective strategy and action plan that will deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment of mathematics, English and ICT across the provision
  • Motivate and drive learners and staff to achieve their Skills through great teaching, learning and support
  • Drive colleagues to deliver English, maths and ICT qualifications within the allocated timescale
  • Drive the team to meet the KPIs identified for first time pass rates for Functional skills
  • Support the identification and support for learners with any identified needs
  • Identify and adopt the most effective teaching and learning strategies for learners to achieve their skills and for learners with any additional needs
  • Work with colleagues to set challenging targets for raising the achievement and narrowing the achievement gap for learners with any additional needs
  • Ensure robust tracking systems are in place to monitor and maintain compliance
  • Lead and manage the Learning and Skills team to support, prioritise and allocate resources
  • Design, develop and identify appropriate learning resources to support the delivery of Functional Skills and GCSE
  • Update the Senior Leadership team on the effectiveness of provision for Skills and learner with additional needs
  • Lead and monitor the organisation's expectations with regard to initial and diagnostic assessment and ensure this is a tool used for planning learning
  • Ensure a cohesive and comparable delivery service for all learners, nationally and promote inclusive practice
  • Design, develop and deliver training modules to support the development of staff and learners
  • Identify and external support or resources needed to support learners with specific disabilities or barriers to learning
  • Deploy staff effectively and take a line management role
  • Work with the Learning Support Officer to plan for any Special Exam Arrangements and ensure all exams taken for Functional Skills are carried out as specified by JCQ
  • Contribute to and write reports as required. This includes the Self-Assessment Report, referrals, updates on retention, achievement and progression of the supported learners and those who have opted not to be supported Job Description and Person Specification
  • Carry out observations and appraisals of staff and take action if necessary to address sickness and attendance issues
  • Advise SLT of changes in disability legislation and governmental initiatives, as well as the positive promotion of disability and provide recommendations in relation to legislative requirements in the field of learning difficulty and/or disability
  • Maintain confidentiality and communicate with internal and external agencies when necessary
  • To facilitate focus groups to gain feedback on the quality of service from a learner's point of view, act on them and be an advocate for learners

Essential Requirement:

  • Degree level qualification related to the post such as education, English, maths
  • L5 Teaching qualification (DTTLs/Cert Ed)
  • L4/5 subject specialism in English or maths (Literacy or Numeracy)
  • Clean driving licence and access to a car
  • This is a National role therefore, ability to work flexible hours and locaions is vital
