Overview:

My client, a highly reputable house builder specialising in new homes throughout the South Coast, is looking for an outstanding Planning & Technical Assistant to join their land and planning team.

 

This position reports into the Land & Planning Manager, as well as the Commercial Director, giving the candidate experience of working alongside senior management.

 

The Planning & Technical Assistant will have some previous experience in the technical element of house building, and they will now be ready to take those skills to the next level.

 

Self-motivation, enthusiasm and high levels of organisation are expected.  In return, my client is offering a competitive salary package, a breadth of work and the opportunity to work in attractive offices in a semi-rural Hampshire location.

 

Day to day duties:

The successful candidate will enjoy an exciting variety of work across a range of sites. Tasks to be expected include: managing the drawing system, liaising with warranty providers, preparing energy and SAP ratings, preparation of specifications, keeping on top of any changes to planning legislation and compliance, attending Planning Committee meetings and issuing reports, liaising with appointed planning consultants, assisting with public consultations, contributing to the preparation of draft layouts, assisting in the preparation of planning appeals, liaising with service companies and submission of service applications and working closely with the commercial director to ensure compliance with planning consents.

 

Skills required:

To complete these tasks, the successful applicant will already possess an excellent understanding of planning legislation and CDM regulations, plus working knowledge of building regulations. Further to this, good technical knowledge of both house and flat construction is required, while you will also have a degree of flair for design and enjoy this aspect of the job, you will also have an RTPI accredited degree.

 

It is a given that you will have a keen willingness to learn, with the ability to mix easily within a small dynamic team of professionals

It is expected that you will be computer literate and a confident user of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Power-point, Access, while the ability to use AutoCad and other design software would be beneficial.
