Town Planning Director

Leeds or Harrogate

We are seeking a progressive and versatile Director to assist in building on the success of the current planning team in Leeds. The Leeds office is a key component of the company's wider planning business which is recognised as one of the top 4 UK planning consultancies. This is an exciting opportunity for someone at senior level with a good market knowledge and awareness of the planning position in the North West market to play a leading role in the development and expansion of the office. We already have a wide portfolio of clients in the public and private sector and the successful candidate will be participating in a number of existing interesting projects across the development spectrum as well as taking the initiative in exploring new market areas for the company. The office has diverse clients in the fields of residential, retail, commercial and leisure as well as being able to work with existing experts in urban design, transportation and drainage. There is a great opportunity for career development and widening knowledge of disciplines related to planning.

You will win and lead diverse projects for an incredibly broad range of clients across multiple sectors. Forging a strong relationship with clients and key sectors, you'll spearhead and lead teams providing Planning services and support. You will proactively develop the client base as well as the business profile of the wider business As a proven business leader, you will contribute to the development and delivery of business and operating plans in line with group goals and initiatives. You will work within a fully integrated multi-disciplinary environment with access to experts in their field that can help deliver all our clients requirements in the development cycle. The role will involve building key relationships with our urban design, environmental and highways and transport planning teams. As a technical expert and business leader you will apply your knowledge, know-how and effectively respond to changing markets, to deliver continuous improvement, development and growth, as well as an innovative and robust consultancy service to the company's existing and expanding client base.

You will: To be successful in the role you will having the following skills and experience: * Support and develop the 'business vision' for the office including exploring key business development opportunities in the region;

* Be a proven 'work winner' in the North West region * Support and develop a culture of cross-discipline working * Proactively develop the client base in the North West region and the business profile of the Edinburgh office. * Develop business relationships and where possible strategic alliances within other important professional practices * Proactively promote the company's brand and values through networking, professional bodies, trade associations and other affiliations * Be able to develop long standing relationships within clients in the region * Set and manage client expectations and be accountable for project delivery oversight ensuring delivery on time, within budget and in line with appropriate quality and compliance procedures and professional codes of conduct * Agree fee schedules and commercial terms About You With an extensive knowledge and understanding of the Planning market you will be confident achieving commercial and quality goals: Skills and Experience * Proven business winner * Recognised management experience; * Specialist experience in the field of town planning and relevant industry experience at a senior level; * Experience of leading large or complex planning projects * Degree level or equivalent experience; * Member or Fellow of professional body (preferably the RTPI, or RICS) and Personal Specification * Strategic thinker, capable of understanding and responding to commercial business needs; * Passionate in delivering the best possible outcome for clients * Ambitious above planning and advancing career
