ALLEN & YORK are pleased to be actively recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer for one of our prestigious clients. Our client is a leading global organisation with an ever expanding Rail Team.
As the successful candidate, you will become a key member of the design team, by supporting the Discipline Lead on project work and playing a key role in the business development of the team.
Conceptual outline and detailed design of engineering solutions, presentation of engineering options.
Preparation, checking and/or approval of feasibility studies, outline and detailed design technical reports and other written documents.
Design, checking and approval of detail allocation and construction design.
Production and approval of design concepts, drawings, specifications and other technical documents.
Management of teams of engineers and external suppliers.
Delivery of work to programme, budget and specification.
Training and development, mentoring of junior staff.
Planning, monitoring and reporting of project resources and finances.
Client and third party liaison.
Establishment of internal design standards and/or processes to achieve a continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
Contributing to long term technical development of the office by application of new techniques, procedures and practices.
MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering
Previous experience of working in the rail sector
Experience of working in key project teams on major schemes
Experience of Safety in Design and Designers responsibilities under CDM
Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members
Ideally experience in working with Railway Standards, Eurocodes, British Standards and knowledge of guidance available from industry research bodies such as CIRIA, Concrete Council etc
Ideally experience in the design and specifications of platforms, drainage, earthworks, underground tank structures, station building structures, foundations, structural steelwork, masonry and cladding
