Our client are a leading provider of utility contracting services to Distribution Network Operators, the private sector and the public sector across the UK. They are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to be involved with existing contracts and also involvement with measurement/pricing of new opportunities.


Key Responsibilities 

  • drive continuous improvements in financial and commercial performance
  • preparation of Cost Analysis reports
  • managing commercial aspects of sub-contract accounts
  • management and development of a Quantity Surveyor and/or assistant Quantity Surveyor
  • produce regular analysis reports on project performance
  • prepare forecasts of end of year figures, and update each month
  • provide reports on profit & loss on individual projects
  • raise awareness to Managers & Engineers on commercial control
  • assist with debt control within overall business
  • raise commercial awareness throughout the company
  • assist in regular financial reviews with managers
  • provide cost reports for all projects
  • ensure that accurate records are kept and full entitlement under the contract is achieved
  • take control of projects from inception to final account stage and ensure that all variations are recorded and costs recovered
  • producing price or rate proposal variations
  • obtain more attractive prices and arrangements with key suppliers
  • provide support to the Operations Managers
  • assist in financial costing for tenders
  • assist in commercial/contractual control on tenders
  • drive cost saving initiatives within company
  • ensure all invoicing is kept up to date by operations teams
  • carry out site measurements
  • provide strong business and commercial experience to assist the company to grow


Essential Skills and Qualifications 

  • BSc or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
  • IQA Procedures and Policies
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated team player who has the ability to demonstrate business acumen in the wide ranging activities that this role comprises.
  • Proven track record of exceeding business targets and KPIs.
  • Able to develop good customer relations while maintaining full confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Experience of working with an electrical / multi utilities contractor would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • At least 5 years post qualification experience
