Our client is one of Europe's leading energy groups.

They are currently seeking to hire a Regulatory Affairs Advisor to join their London based Regulatory & Stakeholder Relations department.

As Regulatory Affairs Advisor, you will be responsible for regulatory risk through identification, monitoring and acting on regulatory and compliance issues associated with operating in the UK electricity market, with particular emphasis on the Renewables sector.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor government departments, Ofgem, National Grid and other relevant regulatory bodies to understand and provide analysis of quantitative and qualitative impact assessments of policy initiatives, consultation documents and market developments and, where necessary, preparing written submissions to the relevant authority

  • Monitor and influence relevant external stakeholders to ensure the company's interests and commercial position are well represented and understood

  • Perform a wide range of analysis to support the company's view of market and regulatory developments

  • Contribute to the development of the business planning and strategy for the company in the UK markets

  • Work with colleagues to develop the company's position to industry change proposals and provide relevant input into business cases and analysis to support market intelligence and pipeline analysis work.

Furthermore, you will establish and carry out internal reporting on industry change and major policy developments that impact the business and provide regular updates to the business on background and assumptions to external analysis of the regulatory view of the energy market.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (e.g. economics, law)

  • Have a good understanding of the industry policy framework and codes

  • Have experience in a similar role in an energy company or utility with in depth knowledge of frameworks and regulation (a government or regulatory position would also be acceptable)

  • Have excellent attention to detail in both written and numeric analysis

  • Have a strong analytical capability, are comfortable working in Excel and with large datasets and PowerPoint for internal reporting and external presentations.

Ideally, you will be comfortable working with economic models and a range of statistical and quantitative techniques. Previous experience in an operational or commercial role and an understanding of the energy and renewable energy sector will be advantageous.
