Our client a leading UK waste and resource management company is seeking a SHEQ Manager. The SHEQ manager will be the focal point for health & safety best practice across group functions where required by providing advice, guidance, assistance, support and making recommendations to ensure a process of continual improvement.
Your responsibilities will include;
Ensuring regular consultation with the Operational Managers that Health and Safety is kept under constant review.
Assisting, supporting and leading where required the development and implementation of a Health & Safety Plan focusing on continuous risk & accident reduction.
Visiting sites within the Division on a regular basis in order to liaise with site personnel and feedback to the Management Team.
Presenting on a monthly basis a monthly report / year to date statistical data to the Operations Director & Site Operations Management.
Undertaking audits on a regular basis and developing a learning culture and sharing / presenting results and performance to Management Teams.
Following serious and fatal incidents and at the request of the Head of SHEQ, carrying out investigations and preparing a Panel of Inquiry Report.
Managing and supporting other Health & Safety Managers / Advisors & Coaches within the Group and across other Group Function's where required.
Liaising as required with external regulatory authorities including the Health and Safety Executive, Fire Service, Police and any other regulatory / professional body in relation to workplace health & safety.
Prohibiting any works where in the opinion of the post holder the risk of serious or imminent personal injury exists or where the continuation of the activity / process would result in a clear serious breach of statutory legislation.
As the ideal candidate you will hold a NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ level 4 in Occupational Safety or have a Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. You will at least 4 years' experience in a professional Health and Safety position in an industry presenting complex risks
Experience of working in the Energy/Waste Disposal & Recycling Industries a Must
Experience of developing and implementing health & safety policy and procedures successfully
Strong reputation for consistent delivery of projects on time and to budget within a demanding commercial environment
Experience of working to OHSAS18001: 2007 standards within an Integrated Management System (IMS)
Proven success of influencing at the highest level both internally and externally
Experience of managing people / team's and dealing with conflict
Experience of delivering Health & Safety Courses either internally or externally
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and inspire staff members
