Solar PV System Design Engineer

Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)

Allen & York's Energy Generation team are working on the behalf of a young and rapidly expanding solar developer. The company was founded in 2015, is employee-owned and are based in Jeddah with a research office at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Their primary focus is on developing off-grid ground-mounted PV systems for agricultural clients, but they are also working on several commercial rooftop projects and pilot studies. At this moment in time the company are a small close knit team but the business is growing fast and employees will have plenty of responsibility as well as a stake in a developing business.

Our client is currently looking for a solar PV engineer to perform system design and provide technical supervision. The role would include:

• Generation, optimization and review of detailed solar PV system designs and schematics
• Supervision of technical aspects of project installation and operation
• Responsibility for testing and quality control of systems
• Supporting technical strategy decisions
• Supporting selection of suppliers/components
• Supporting the set up and management of O&M programs
• Conducting yield assessments and feasibility studies
• Management of external consultants
• Design and development of technological pilot studies
  • At least 5 years of PV engineering experience
  • Proven ability to develop high quality system designs
  • Experience conducting appraisals of PV system build quality, both during and after construction
  • Reputable electrical engineering degree
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the PV value chain 
  • Fluency in English and good communication skills
  • Confidence in taking on responsibility and being the point of call for all technical issues
  • An attention to detail and pride in delivering to high standards
  • A willingness to continue to learn, grow and develop professionally
  • Long-term commitment to being a part of a growing business
  • Additional experience (either in PV project development or in manufacturing of inverters/modules)
  • Arabic speaker (Advantage)
