ALLEN & YORK's Energy Team are working with one of the global Energy Storage and Renewable Energy originator and developer based in the South East. The Company has a new, innovative and growing team focused on sustainable, de-centralised energy systems.

We are looking for a Technical Design Engineer, responsible for the delivery of design for industrial & commercial battery & hybrid systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the design of Battery & Hybrid systems and Solar PV installations using AutoCAD for world-wide projects
  • All designs must meet technical, electrical standards and CDM (where applicable) regulations. Ensure quality of design meets Company standards
  • Able to provide project design, including equipment specification
  • Create designs including single line diagrams
  • Working knowledge of PV system components and sizing methods including their specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability
  • Knowledge of safety features, grounding, disconnects, system testing, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to creatively consider cost reduction ideas and strategies
  • Able to trade efficiency, output, and costs to optimize system
  • Assist with preparing and submitting DNO applications or similar local network operators internationally
  • To provide support for commercial tenders and planning applications
  • To provide support to Project Managers and construction teams, when required
  • To prepare planning application drawings when required
  • Site surveys to check project feasibility and take all relevant measurements and information in order to prepare the final ready to build designs
  • Setup the monitoring system of the commissioned installations or support the team doing this
  • Ensure good communication between the UK office and international colleagues in other offices
  • Updating CRM systems
  • Adheres to all Company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy

Skills Required:

  • Must have experience of working within a similar technical design role in the renewable energy sector
  • Degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Electrical engineering is essential
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of design regulations
  • BS7671 17th edition qualification and ability to deliver designs and specify required equipment according to the regulations is highly desirable
  • Experience in system design of large scale commercial projects
  • Experience in designing DC & AC (HV and LV) systems
  • Electrical schematics, string configuration and layout drawings
  • Experience in Sunny Design, PVsyst, Meteonorm and AutoCAD design (AutoCAD Civil 3D would be a plus)
  • Understanding of the different substructure options, requirements and limitations
  • Working on heights certificate and IPAF training would be desirable
  • Ability to interpret topographical drawings
  • Ability to communicate and interpret needs effectively
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills
  • Advanced IT skills and be fully conversant with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Flexible mindset and solutions driven

Other Requirements:

  • The role may involve travelling to international offices and staying over for 4- 8 weeks in the EMEA or Asia Pacific regions as and when required
