Water Project Manager






My client are currently seeking a Project Manager to join their Water team in the South East to manage the design delivery of key projects to time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets.


As the Project Manager, you will also manage all aspects of the client relationship so that delivery meets or exceeds client expectations and to take a lead role within the project team providing leadership and technical advice. You will also be responsible for the commercial performance of the projects.


The role will be based in Guildford however the ability to travel throughout the UK would be preferred.



Essential Experience:


•             Engineering background within the UK Water environment preferred

•             Experience in leading design in a consultant organisation and working in a tendered design services environment

•             Extensive experience in a design project environment with substantial project management experience

•             Design and Build experience, producing design for contractors needed

•             Good client management and communication skills essential

•             Sound commercial background (NEC3), including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures and ability to take commercial responsibility for a                        project

•             Experienced in leading, and working with, people from varied backgrounds and cultures


Job Role:


•             Providing sound and effective leadership to the team, providing direction and technical advice, leading by example to achieve company goals and                  championing a quality culture

•             Communicating with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and client requirements

•             Working to ensure maximum client satisfaction, championing client care and proactively working with the client

•             Managing proactively the commercial aspects of the project (contract, invoicing, and debt, client management) to ensure cash flow and profit targets are met

•             Ensuring that effective financial and project management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting as appropriate

•             Managing the acquisition and deployment of resources for the project to ensure optimal resource allocation for the project

•             Assessing, selecting, procurement and management of suppliers, sub-consultants and contractors associated with projects

•             Developing and managing the Project Programme and obtaining the buy-in of all stakeholders

•             Continually looking to enhance productivity through improved processes, procedures and systems

•             Communicating effectively with all stakeholders to ensure that all parties are kept informed on all relevant matters impacting and influencing projects

•             Driving project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes and undertaking reviews, ensuring client delivery is above expectation

•             Ensuring that completed engineering and documentation work is reviewed for technical, client compliance

•             Ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed and managed to avoid adverse impacts on the project

•             Reviewing the performance of team members and developing them to their full potential





•             BSc / MSc in Civil Engineering or Project Management or equivalent

•             Chartered professional status

•             Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance or project management related areas an advantage
