Job description
An exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity has arisen for an experienced governance professional to take on a senior leadership role within a complex public sector organisation in West London (hybrid 1-2 days a week).
As Assistant Director - Governance, you'll provide oversight and assurance across governance, risk, compliance, and audit functions, working closely with senior leaders, boards, and auditors. A key focus of the role is developing and embedding a robust governance framework that will leave a lasting legacy, ensuring statutory compliance and driving a culture of accountability and transparency throughout the organisation.
This role also includes managing and mentoring a small team, strengthening capability, and ensuring governance supports effective decision-making across all levels of the organisation.
We're looking for someone with proven experience in governance, audit, or risk at a senior level, ideally within the public sector. Strong knowledge of statutory responsibilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present complex issues with clarity are essential.
This is a fantastic chance to make a tangible impact, leading with professionalism and integrity while delivering real improvements in governance and assurance that will endure beyond the tenure of the role.
