Job description
Allen & York are delighted to be working for a fast growing, research-led boutique sustainability consultancy who are part of a long-established communications business. We are now looking for a Business Development Manager to join the team of dedicated sustainability professionals and help to secure a pipeline of work for the future.
This exciting opportunity has arisen as the business is growing and adapting to market conditions and, reporting to the Director of Business Development, you'll be responsible for generating leads, identifying opportunities for collaboration and developing proposals and presentations through conducting research and engaging with stakeholders.
You will be responsible for finding and contacting sustainability professionals (often from a warm lead but also opening new communication channels), arranging meetings and then visiting them to introduce the business and the services offered. After initial contact has been made and there is interest from the clients (predominantly FTSE 250 and 500 companies, but also NGO's and industry bodies), you will then work with one of the experienced Team who can go into more technical detail around the clients' needs.
To be successful in this role, you'll have at least three years' proven business development experience, ideally in some aspect of the sustainability space, however a passion for and willingness to learn about the sector would be sufficient…the BD and client engagement skills are more important. You'll be comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders, visiting and meeting Heads of Sustainability independently and contributing to pitches and presentations. In addition, you'll use your initiative to keep up to date with market trends and observe competitors and other related businesses to put the company in the optimal position to succeed.
In return, you'll be joining a heavily purpose driven organisation who offer a competitive salary and commission structure and benefits package, including a good holiday allowance, flexible, hybrid working arrangements and a training and development programme. So, if you're comfortable working to (and, most likely, exceeding) targets and would like to find out more, please contact Katie on kpereira@allen-york.com
