Allen & York are delighted to be partnering with a non-for-profit organisation working within the supply chain area of the mining sector, as they look to recruit a Communications Policy Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a communications executive with proven experience to engage both internally and externally with a variety of stakeholders throughout this supply chain, from mine to smelter and work on this substantial and unique project. It will be your responsibility to improve media communications, member and stakeholder communications through providing training courses, graphics and webinars to ensure everyone knows what the Initiative does and the expectations of the programme.
It will also be your responsibility to improve positive reporting of the programme via social media as well as longer, written pieces and face to face meetings and you'll contribute to reports, for both members and external stakeholders and find a way to change the narrative of the mining sector for the better, utilising the most suitable media.
You will need to be able to work independently and demonstrate your initiative by compiling and releasing communications without them always needing to be checked or verified. As such, in addition to your communications experience, it would be beneficial if you had experience of either the mining sector, supply chain, due diligence or broader sustainability.
Given the nature of the role and who you will be working with, it's absolutely essential that you are a native English speaker and also fluent in French, both written and verbal, as you will be required to translate documents from one language to the other and to produce documentation, predominantly in English but sometimes in French. What is also required is a willingness and ability to travel to Africa on occasion, as and when is necessary and the successful candidate will work remotely and could be based anywhere in England or Germany.
