Development Project Manager - New Sites

Job Purpose/Summary Details


Key Accountabilities

This position would be responsible for supporting the UK&I development project team in identifying new wind sites throughout the GB.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Initiating and implementing site finding strategies using GIS techniques.

  • Assessing site suitability based on project economics and balancing the portfolio.

  • Assisting the UK&I development team with the identification of and outreach to prospective landowners.

  • Producing development proposals for prospective new sites and responding to tenders.

  • Developing strong relationships with landowners and their representatives.

  • Assisting the property managers with the successful negotiations of commercial terms with landowners and agents.

  • Managing internal and external resources as required to deliver projects to Phase 2, including liaising with colleagues and consultants to procure planning, environmental, engineering, technical, environmental and grid assessments.

  • Identifying and communicating to the project team any key issues & risks on a project's value or programme.

  • Ensuring project budgets are up to date, accurate, tracked and managed.

  • Travel to visit sites, landowners and agents is required throughout GB.


Knowledge

Skills

  • Commercially aware.

  • Knowledge of Regional & National Planning Policy.

  • Regional knowledge of existing or in process wind farms would be beneficial.

  • Awareness of common risks associated with the development of wind farms.




  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)

  • Ability to sell to landowners and to relate to various types of landowners.

  • Ability to assess risks.

  • Influencing and negotiation skills.

  • Outgoing, self-motivated.

  • Attention to detail to manage project risks.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to multi-task across project portfolio.

  • Commercial acumen.

  • Full driving licence is required and the candidate must be prepared to travel throughout GB to meet landowners and agents when required.


Experience

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in an office environment is required.

  • Experience of working with and negotiating with landowners and/or agents is required.

  • Experience of appointing and managing consultants is desirable.

  • Experience with using GIS for site finding or analysing GIS results is desirable, but training can be provided.

  • Experience of managing budgets is desirable.

  • Experience in compiling & winning tenders is desirable.

  • Previous working experience with large scale developments is desirable.


  • Degree in an environmental, engineering, technical, planning or science based subject or equivalent experience.
