Director of Ecology
Urban Green-Manchester- UK
Urban Green are a specialist design and environmental consultancy based in Manchester, who specialise in Ecology, Urban design and Landscape planning.
They are looking to bring in a Director of Ecology to contribute to the strategic development and growth of the company at leadership level. of the Ecology and develop their Ecological offering. You will be responsible for leading, directing, managing and delivering multidisciplinary and ecology projects across a range of challenging and exciting schemes.
The role
The position will be varied and duties include:
You will be responsible for leading, directing, managing and delivering multidisciplinary and ecology projects across a range of challenging and exciting schemes. An experienced technical focus is required, with excellent project management and communication skills and demonstratable delivery experience.
You will have an inspiring approach and the ability to lead, manage, develop and grow a team of ecologists.
You will have a proven experience of winning work and managing client relationships.
You will have the opportunity to benefit from an exciting and diverse workload, delivering high quality support for private and public-sector clients across the UK.
You would become an integral part of a growing design and environmental consultancy, working directly with the directors and our existing client and consultants. Day to day, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the ecology business plan, leading our ecology team demonstrating efficient and profitable delivery and managing projects and costing and tendering for work.
Requirements
6-10 years' professional experience in ecology with significant experience at a leadership level.
Full member of CIEEM
Detailed knowledge of ecological principles, relevant UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, best practice survey techniques and ecological impact assessment (EcIA)
Proven track record of managing and developing client relationships.
Detailed knowledge of EIA and the planning process.
Experience of writing technical reports, the delivery of EPSM licence documents as named Ecologist (Bats / GCN / Badger as minimum) and EcIA.
Excellent project management skills including financial control of projects, strong client liaison abilities and coordinating a team effort.
