Job description
Allen & York are delighted to be working with Roadchef as they look to recruit a Head of ESG to join their business and help them set up a number of processes and procedures, with the ultimate objective of achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Roadchef are one of the UK's leading roadside service area operators, in over 30 locations offering a range of services. An Investor In People Platinum employer, they are committed to becoming a leader in the sustainability, supporting charities and community engagement and driving innovation by introducing popular high street brands into their service areas.
This is a really exciting and unique role as you'll be covering a range of industries and will be instrumental in setting up their GRESB reporting process and developing the company's communications around sustainability.
This multifaceted role requires someone who has exceptional project management skills, to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, is comfortable engaging at all levels of the business and has the technical credibility and ability to influence. Experience of having operated in a complex, cross industry sector role before would be a distinct advantage but relevant sector experience in one of the areas Roadchef are involved with is sufficient.
You will be responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are in place to deliver on ISO standards, keep abreast of legislative changes around ESG, be responsible for producing the sustainability report (you'll manage the GRESB reporting and annual submission) and ensure compliance with packaging regulations and preparing for upcoming deposit return schemes.
From a technical perspective, you'll be covering everything from air pollution, biodiversity, decarbonisation and waste to energy reduction and you'll support functions on issues such as ethical and sustainable purchasing, removing plastic use and identifying fundraising opportunities and applying for relevant funds.
You'll work with the Communications Department to create a compelling narrative and ensure the messaging is consistent and you'll have budgetary responsibilities and national influence (you may well have spoken at conferences on panels).
So, if you're ready to join a progressive, forward-thinking organisation where you can really have an impact and drive developments in sustainability, please contact kpereira@allen-york.com
