Principal Consultant- Climate Change Finance - London
This is your chance to be a part of a climate change team for a international sustainability consultancy, this team has been operational for more than 20 years and has dynamic reputation for delivering high quality and technically challenging projects across the full range of climate-related services.
As a Climate change finance specialist, you will support clients in the development and implementation of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and reduction targets, energy and carbon regulatory compliance, and preparing advice on climate-related strategy and policy, including issues within both energy transition and physical risk.
In the role of principal consultant, you will be focused on the finance sector, advising on the risks associated with a changing climate, these risks are recognised as universal to the global economy. You will aid clients in navigating the pressure that is increasing on them from investors, regulators, customers and society for their business as well as governments to transition to a lower carbon economy.
Daily you will draw on your understanding and knowledge of GHG accounting and reporting principles (GHG Protocol, API Compendium, SBTi, EEIO etc) along with you perception of climate change and the transition to a low carbon economy, and the key climate, and ESG, related regulatory, supervisory, and market (e.g. net zero) drivers, to provide strategic advice through to practical on-the-ground implementation.
As part of your role (Principal Consultant- Climate Change Finance) you will work on advisory activities to implement the recommendations of the FSB's (The Financial Stability Board) Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). You will also be providing support to clients to meet supervisory and regulatory requirements, for example from the Bank of England / Prudential Regulation Authority, and the EU Sustainable Finance Package.
Your knowledge and vision of the market will assist clients to embed climate change within their risk management frameworks and strategic planning and implementation while helping engage and build capacity within clients from their Boards, through their executive management teams down to their lending, investment and risk management teams.
