Job description
Allen and York are excited to be partnering exclusively with one of the largest sustainability consultancies as they look to recruit a Principal Consultant for their Corporate Sustainability Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, proven sustainability professional to leverage their expertise of technical delivery, combined with people management and business development to help drive the business forward. Working across a range of sectors, including media and telecoms, manufacturing and chemicals, you will be client oriented and collaborative, with an ability to manage a portfolio of assignments.
In order to be successful in this role, you will bring a wealth of expertise working in the sustainability space, ideally with some of that being in a consultancy environment but corporate experience will also be really beneficial. Managing a team of seven young and ambitious consultants, you will have successfully led teams previously, from allocating work, to providing technical support and guidance right through to conducting reviews and appraisals.
In addition to this will be your ability to identify new opportunities for business and contributing to the commercial success of the team. As such, a strong commercial acumen is required and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and you'll be able to demonstrate your track record in previous roles.
With regards the technical capabilities, you don't have to be a subject matter expert on any particular area of sustainability, rather you will have a solid overview of sustainability and ESG issues, including conducting materiality assessments, formulating sustainability strategies, sustainability reporting in line with various frameworks such as TCFD, GRI, etc, and net zero and decarbonisation.
With the majority of the team being based in London, ideally you'll be in the Southeast within easy access to the London office, however there are a number of other offices around the country where you can be based, with occasional travel to the Capital. Operating a flexible hybrid working policy of eight days per month, you will have a good balance of working from home whilst maintaining the personal touch and interaction of the office.
So, if you possess the technical delivery, business development and team management skills required for this role, and you'd like to find out more, please contact Katie on kpereira@allen-york.com.
