Principal Ecologist
Hybrid Working
Are you a highly motivated, ambitious and resourceful Ecologist looking for your next career move? A Principal Terrestrial Ecologist is required to deliver a diverse range of projects for a variety of clients, including UK conservation agencies, water and energy industries and development clients. The individual sought will have the scope to become Team Leader of ecology for the South of England, managing and developing a team of up to 15 ecologists in various locations. At the forefront of all projects is the aim to preserve the natural environment whilst enabling sustainable development.
The role
You will be expected to.
- Ensure ecological projects are managed and delivered to a high standard
- Have key involvement in tender preparation, writing proposals within the agreed time frame and to budget
- Working closely with existing clients and maintaining stakeholder relationship
- Identity and pursue opportunities to win additional work for the team
- Managing Health and Safety of yourself and the team, whilst offering continual improvement
Requirements
The successful candidate will be an experienced Ecologist who is passionate about the natural world and preserving the environment. You will be self-motivated and display a strong work ethic.
Additional experience:
- A post-graduate degree in an environment/ecology related subject
- Experience in terrestrial field work, including conducting protected species surveys and mitigation projects
- A passion for personal development of self and others
- Ideally hold at least one protected species licence
- Current knowledge of EU & UK legislation, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Environmental impact assessments
- Experience of managing and developing more junior colleagues
