Senior Advisor: Environment & Community

£60-70k base salary + excellent benefits
London-based with a hybrid work structure
International travel opportunities (c.4 trips to Africa a year)
Allen & York are proud to be partnering with an international mining stewardship company who put community and social responsibility at the heart of everything they do. Based in Australia with mine operations in Africa, they are seeking a Senior Advisor for their London office to provide Environmental & Community support and guidance to optimise business practice and create sustainable value.
The Role
With three major parts to the role this is a great opportunity to get stuck in and gain experience in multiple aspects:
Environmental
Support in environmental compliance & advising management on sustainability best-practice
Identification & management of environmental risks and incidents
International biodiversity project support & reporting
Compilation of Scope 1-3 emissions and ISO 14001 certification
Contractor & stakeholder technical guidance and management
Community
Support in community engagement plans, human rights matters, safeguarding in supply chain and other local initiatives and partnerships
Representing the company in an international setting when travelling to remote locations
Establish social performance standards and targets
Reporting & Compliance
Support in Sustainability & ESG reporting
Support implementation of Responsible Mining Principles
Continual evaluation and identification of improvements aligning to leading frameworks
About You
5+ years broad experience within environmental or community advisory
Demonstrable knowledge of sustainable or environmental development in Africa
Strong risk & incident management experience
Strong stakeholder & contractor management, analytical skills, and professional communication and public speaking skills
Desirable: French-speaking
