Job description
A leading renewable energy operator is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead and enhance the company's HSE management systems across its food waste anaerobic digestion (AD) operations. This hands-on leadership role requires close collaboration with site teams to embed a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive sustainable environmental performance.
The role involves leading a team of SHEQ Advisors across multiple sites, providing direction, coaching, and development to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of HSE standards. Key responsibilities include managing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 compliance, conducting risk assessments and audits, leading incident investigations, delivering health and safety training, and fostering continuous improvement across safety, environmental, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety and/or an Environmental Management qualification, with significant leadership experience in HSE or SHEQ within anaerobic digestion, biogas, renewable energy, utilities, or process industries.
They will have strong knowledge of UK HSE and environmental legislation, including COMAH, Environmental Permitting Regulations, and the Health and Safety at Work Act, as well as proven experience managing and developing HSE professionals and delivering ISO-compliant management systems.
Exceptional communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to influence at all levels, are essential for success in this role.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated HSE professional to take ownership of a multi-site operation and make a tangible impact on safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
