An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a well-established, regulated organisation operating within a safety-critical utilities and infrastructure environment. The role sits within a central Health & Safety Business Support and Improvement function, providing assurance, guidance and practical support across a diverse operational footprint.
Working closely with operational teams and senior stakeholders, you will play a key role in promoting compliance, embedding best practice and supporting a positive safety culture. The position involves developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and internal standards, and leading or supporting internal audits, assurance activities, inspections and on-site technical reviews.
You will provide clear, practical feedback to stakeholders and contribute across a broad H&S remit including occupational safety, process safety, environmental safety, wellbeing, and behavioural safety. The role also includes developing and implementing safety bulletins, procedures and incident learning communications, as well as supporting regulatory enquiries and contributing to incident investigations to ensure learning is captured and embedded.
The successful candidate will be a credible and confident H&S professional with a strong sense of integrity and a positive, solutions-focused approach. You will be an effective communicator, able to influence at all levels, challenge constructively and hold others to account when required. Strong planning, organisational and time-management skills are essential, along with the ability to anticipate issues, adapt approach and work efficiently to deadlines.
You will ideally hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, or be working towards this level, with a willingness to progress professional H&S qualifications and appropriate IOSH membership. Good IT capability and flexibility to travel across sites are also required.
