Job description
A highly prestigious and career defining opportunity has arisen within a unique organisation to help develop and deliver their social value strategy, not just in London, where the role is based, but UK wide.
Allen & York are proud to be working in the Social Value space to secure a Senior Social Value Manager to develop a strategy which will leave a lasting legacy with one of the UK's oldest institutions. Working on what will be the largest project in Europe, you will have extensive experience of having developed and implemented a social value strategy, ideally within the built environment/construction sector, but if you've grown your social value career in another sector, that will also be transferable.
You'll be adept at working with and coordinating with different departments, engaging with stakeholders at the most senior level, demonstrating the benefits of social value and converting complex technical jargon into easy to understand benefits to society. In addition, you'll implement social value activities, managing the volunteer framework (a CSR background would lend itself nicely in this respect) and making strategic decisions using a range of social value metrics. Indeed, an intriguing part of role will be to assist with the development of a social value measurement platform so experience of having done this in a previous post will be advantageous.
To successfully perform the role, you'll need excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as you'll be involved in extensive stakeholder engagement at the highest level, ensuring effective communication (both internal and external) regarding all CSR activities and it's expected that you'll be well versed with diversity and inclusion. You'll be a self starter, able to work independently and know what you need to do to deliver results. If you have experience of managing large contracts with more than one stakeholder, that will enable you to hit the ground running.
As expected, you'll attend conferences and other events to further your knowledge of the space and network with like-minded professionals and your degree in a sustainability/science based discipline will set you up nicely, as will your membership to IEMA or similar professional body.
Based in London, you will be based in the swanky, newly refurbished offices for 2-3 days a week and you can then work from home for the remainder of the week if you wish. What you will be doing is joining an established, passionate and growing Team of Sustainability professionals who are committed to delivering on their commitments.
