Job description
Allen & York are excited to be working with a global construction company as they look to hire a Sustainability Manager to join their team outside Lisbon in Portugal. This is on a hybrid model, initially expected to be on site two days a week, which will increase as the project develops.
As the Sustainability Manager, you will have the opportunity to work closely with project teams and directors across multiple projects and locations across the UK and mainland Europe, with opportunities for travel. You will bring your experience of achieving BREEAM, LEED and Ska Rating assessments to assist the project. Your sustainability knowledge will be crucial in meeting sustainability targets, supporting the company's ESG strategy, and ensuring environmental compliance.
You would be responsible for calculating and monitoring environmental targets, conducting regular environmental inspections on site and facilitating internal and external environmental audits. Ideally, you would have experience in managing more junior team members as you would be expected to deliver training on environmental aspects to project teams and other stakeholders as well as ensuring that teams work together in meeting sustainability objectives.
Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable to you to effectively liaise with clients and professional teams, engage with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to drive environmental improvement, and to communicate information on sustainability issues and performance to site and senior management teams.
The successful candidate is expected to be fluent in both Portuguese and English. This would be a great opportunity for someone already in Portugal or for a Portuguese national to relocate back to the country. If you are located further afield in Portugal, support will be provided in travelling to the site. If you have appropriate experience and feel you posses the right skill set for this role, please email your CV to Giorgia at gknox@allen-york.com.
