Job description
Allen & York are delighted to be working exclusively with an established, regional recycling and waste management company based in the SW of England who service businesses, households and local authorities as they look to recruit an Environmental Advisor. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to join a collaborative business and drive forward improvements in environment and sustainability.
Your experience of developing and maintaining Integrated Management Systems and conducting internal audits will be required, as will your knowledge of applying for and maintaining Environmental Permits. In addition to this, you'll be required to analyse data gathered by the Monitoring Technicians, produce regular reports and submit these to the EA, provide training and development within the organisation and ensure the company is compliant with environmental legislation. As such, experience of having liaised with The Environment Agency would be ideal and you'll have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively liaise with people across the business at all levels.
You'll also have experience of carbon measurement and decarbonisation as you'll support the development and implementation of the company's sustainability strategy, so familiarity with the UN SDG's and contributing to tenders from a social value perspective will stand you in good stead.
Based in Exeter, just outside of the City Centre, the position is offered on a hybrid basis so you'll need to be close enough to access the office and sites during the week but there is some flexibility.
The nature of the company and role means they're looking for someone who's pragmatic, hands on and can work independently without too much supervision and there's also the chance for someone with vision and ambition to take on more responsibility. You will be managing a Monitoring Technician so will ideally have experience of having managed small teams, reviewing workloads and conducting appraisals and reviews.
With a competitive salary and benefits package on offer, this is an excellent opportunity for you to join a well-established, employee owned, personable and values driven organisation who are making significant strides in waste management and really make a difference.
