Sourcing Standards Manager

Job description

Allen & York are delighted to be partnering with the National Trust as they search for a Sourcing Standards Manager to join their Retail Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to play a crucial role in Europe’s largest conservation charity, enabling the National Trust Retail department to lead in the field of sourcing and quality standards.

The National Trust are devoted to protecting places for people and nature to thrive, and in the face of the climate crisis, they are determined to take action. Bringing your passion for ethical and sustainable sourcing you’ll join the retail team, playing an important role in building strategic relationships with suppliers, setting standards, and guiding and influencing the supply base. You’ll share your professional expertise and be an advocate and champion for their retail environmental and ethical standards.

You’ll ensure they meet milestones in their programme and create plans with their suppliers to become compliant with their requirements. You will be ensuring that their product meets the correct legislative and safety requirements and lead on the continuing evolution of their sourcing standards and quality control.

Your stakeholder management skills are vital as you will work closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders including Land & Nature, the Environmental team, Procurement and Licensing. You’ll ensure that the Trust remains at the forefront of policy, standards and regulations. With over 5.6 million members and a retail turnover of £35million comes huge reach and responsibility, with the opportunity to make a difference on a large scale, in a committed and purpose-driven organisation.

The successful candidate will have a background in retail and will have experience in responsible sourcing, risk assessing suppliers and supply chains and working with ethical trading programmes such as SEDEX. Additionally, you will bring your environmental knowledge and experience to the role.

Equally as important as your technical experience will be your influencing and communication skills, as there will be lots of stakeholder engagement, so your proactive mindset and ability to be a team player are essential. You will form an integral part of the business and play a key role in their sustainability improvements, so you should be passionate about maintaining and keeping up to date with environmental and ethical standards to contribute towards these developments.

The head office is in Swindon, and you would ideally be in the office one day a week to engage and collaborate with the team, however, flexible working arrangements can be discussed. So, if you have relevant skills and experience and want to enhance your career in an incredible organisation, please email your CV to Giorgia at gknox@allen-york.com
