Job description
Allen & York are excited to be partnering exclusively with United Group - a South East European telecommunications and media business - as they look to recruit a Sustainability Manager to join them and drive forward their sustainability and ESG agenda. Joining the business at a time of growth and investment, there is strong support for ESG, which is at the core of United Group's agenda.
The role offers the opportunity to choose your preferred location between Amsterdam, Greece or Bulgaria so relocation may be required and with the operating language being English, you will have excellent business level written and spoken English.
This is a fantastic opening for an ambitious, driven, dedicated sustainability professional who's previously implemented a carbon accounting software in a major company, is familiar with carbon footprinting calculations and emissions data management, implementing a GHG emissions reduction strategy and supporting the preparation and submission of environmental disclosures to CDP and ensuring compliance with various reporting requirements, such as the CSRD.
THE ROLE:
This is a new role within the organisation and it's driven by United Group's desire and commitment to sustainability. You will be their technical expert on sustainability and will represent the business at industry events and conferences so you need to have a strong technical knowledge of net zero, reducing emissions in line with Scope 1, 2 and 3, identifying climate related risks and setting targets for and reporting against Science Based Targets (SBT's). In time, you'll be responsible for looking at issues ranging from waste management, circular economy principles, a move to renewable energy and product sustainability. You'll also be involved in the production and publication of the annual sustainability report. A high level of internal and external stakeholder engagement will be required, so your communication skills will be excellent and you'll be adept at liaising at various levels and creating a compelling narrative around sustainability initiatives.
In addition, you'll coordinate the Environmental and Energy Management Systems in accordance with ISO14001 and ISO50001 so experience of having done this previously would be advantageous and adding your expertise to certification and operational procedures.
If you have experience of the telecommunications and media sector, that would be advantageous but it's not essential. What is important is your hands on approach, 'can-do' attitude, an ability to think and operate strategically. And what is key is your ability to influence key stakeholders within the business and experience of working with a consultancy.
If you'd like to find out more, send your CV to kpereira@allen-york.com. Please note that all applications will be reviewed but unfortunately, we regret that we won't be able to respond to everyone.
