Job description
Allen & York are excited to be working with a family business who operate in the waste management sector, as they look to recruit an Environmental Sustainability Manager to join the Team. Servicing the construction sector, commercial premises and local authorities, they help their clients to recycle as much as possible and recover waste to generate energy. Indeed, they've invested in state-of-the-art technology, enabling them to diversify 100% of waste from landfill and all of their sites run on renewable energy.
Supporting the local community is really important to them, so much so that they've created their own Foundation and they regularly hold events to help young, disadvantaged people in London. And from a personal perspective, they have also established an Academy to offer learning and development opportunities for everyone in the business.
This is a newly created role, to support the senior leadership team in the development and implementation of their sustainability strategy, focusing on achieving net zero and a number of other sustainability goals. You will be instrumental in managing the delivery of Scope 1 and 2 targets and looking at the company's Scope 3 carbon target, through data collection and analysis and implementing a variety of initiatives and innovations. In addition, you'll be key in overseeing the implementation of the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO14001, reviewing material outlets including closed loop systems and setting KPI's to successfully achieve targets.
You will manage two direct line reports so previous management experience is required, together with a passion to develop people and offer them opportunities. Ideally, you'll have experience working in the waste sector and of environmental legislation, together with strong client facing and communication skills and the ability to engage with Teams internally. You'll be required to liaise with peers in the industry as well and attend conferences and events, to keep abreast of developments and innovations in the sector, so you'll be proactive, commercially astute and pragmatic.
It's expected you'll have a degree in an environmental discipline, combined with experience in an Environmental Management and/or sustainability role and preferably experience of reporting through CDP, EcoVadis or similar platform.
Based in their Head Office just to the NW of Central London, you will be office based from Monday to Friday, so you need to live within a commutable distance and there are other sites in and around London, which you may need to visit occasionally. In return, you'll receive a competitive salary and package, together with the opportunity to develop the role and Team further. So, if you'd like to find out more about this fantastic opportunity to join a progressive, ambitious company who are at the forefront of their industry, please send your CV to kpereira@allen-york.com.
