M&E Estimator

£35k - £50k, Manchester (hybrid)

Are you an experienced Estimator with a passion for the transition to net zero?

Our clients is a leader in the renewables solutions field (solar PV, energy storage, and renewable heating) part of a group who employs over 3,000 people worldwide with projects ranging from £150k to £5m plus. They're now looking to expand their Manchester office by adding an M&E Estimator to the team, with hybrid working (with 2-3 days per week in the office).

The role

As M&E Estimator you'll have overall responsibility and accountability for the estimating function in our client's business. You'll be providing tenders/estimates across multiple work streams and work closely with the new business and operational teams to win new work for the organisation.

A stickler for detail, you'll ensure the accurate delivery of estimates and be able to plan and organise your work to meet deadlines and quality standards. You'll be adept at ensuring policies and procedures are followed and be able to provide expert estimating and commercial advice to the wider team.

The ability to evaluate and negotiate supplier quotes and provide bids that are competitive, reviewing supply chains and tender risks throughout the process is key to success. Alongside being an expert in the use of spreadsheets and databases to maximise efficiency and to ensure consistent and profitable for the business.

Requirements

To succeed, you'll need hands on experience of estimating for a main contractor in the construction industry. With the ability to work on your own initiative you'll also be used to prioritising and working to deadlines.

Experience with Schedules of Rates and Specifications and Drawings, alongside knowledge of digital estimating packages and the Microsoft Office suite, will also be desirable.

With a strong commercial M&E background, and an HNC/HND in a construction related subject (or equivalent experience) you'll have excellent organisational and time-management and communication skills.
