Job description
Due to growth, an experienced Principal Signalling Engineer is required to join the rail services team. You will provide a high quality signal engineering consultancy service to the rail industry. Equipped with a demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the technical and business aspects of the rail-signalling industry, you will participate in multi-disciplinary project teams, establish and maintain client relationships, build working relationships, and carry out your role reliably and accurately; including design, review, and verification in accordance with signalling principles.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Developing relationships with local and national clients
- Attend/speak at local and national conferences
- Prepare proposals in accordance with client and governance requirements for signalling and associated projects
- Design and lead the delivery of signalling projects to deliver defined profit margins
- Develop client relationships with new or existing clients in the market to support the signalling and other rail systems teams
- Bid preparation, strategy, and client engagement across the rail systems team
- Compliance with Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) policies
- Lead the signalling team in the delivery of projects, you will pro-actively support the signalling team in its strategic direction
- Mentor signalling graduates
Minimum Requirements
- Signalling experience in design, construction, and the maintenance of signalling systems in the transit or freight sectors
- Must be a member of the IRSE or eligible for membership
- Previous proven experience delivering signalling design as part of multi-disciplinary rail systems projects
- Commitment to professional development and retaining the highest standard of signalling design technical skills
- The ability to be able to work in a number of differing consultancy environments and situations across the project lifecycle
- Maintain good communication and cooperation with all project team members. You will have the ability to communicate at all levels and the demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships at the project and local market level; you will have the experience and knowledge to win work
- Understanding and experience working within project budgets whilst maintaining the delivery of high quality outputs
- Commitment to delivery to internal and external clients, with the view towards timeliness, reliability, and accuracy of completed tasks
- Experienced in the use of all MS Office packages
- Demonstrated knowledge of UK signalling principles
- Excellent knowledge of signalling systems of all generations
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or HNC minimum or equivalent
