Job description
Allen & York are delighted to be partnering exclusively with NaughtOne - a UK based international furniture designer and manufacturer who are one of sixteen businesses sitting under the Miller Knoll umbrella.
Established in 2005, they design and manufacture a range furniture for use in commercial spaces such as offices and retail environments supplied globally. They have grown significantly in recent years with a showroom in London and Chicago with a manufacturing facility in Elland where they produce their range of furniture which is 100% unique to NaughtOne.
Driven by their own high standards and a strong focus on environmental and social sustainability, they are now looking to recruit a Sustainability Manager for their UK business to be based just outside Leeds.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's sustainability strategy guided by Miller Knoll's overarching sustainability goals. As such, prior experience having implemented and adapting a strategy would be extremely beneficial, engaging with colleagues across the business and external suppliers to really bring the strategy to life. To achieve this, you'll be responsible for setting key targets and communicating these to customers but also engaging with departments across the business to ensure they are aware of the strategy and what role they play in delivering that.
From a technical perspective, it's expected you will have experience of carbon foot printing, waste reduction, plastics reduction and renewable materials, which is where your practical experience and relevant environmental degree will come into their own. Ideally, you'll have gained experience within the manufacturing environment or a related product-based industry with experience in a business who operate in different geographies.
Your proven project management skills will be required together with clear and concise communication skills and an ability to prioritise and manage your workload effectively. You will get the chance to implement your data analysis skills as you prepare data sheets and presentations and you'll be the main point of contact for all environmental enquiries, both internally and externally. In addition, you will work with external auditors in order to achieve environmental certifications and compliance audits such as FSC and SCS.
Based in the north of England on the outskirts of Harrogate, with easy access from the A1, you will work closely with the team in the offices and also the factory close by in Elland, therefore you'll need a valid UK drivers' licence. There will also be some travel required to suppliers within the region so a willingness to travel is expected.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with relevant product sustainability industry experience who's looking to join an aspirational and exciting business with a family feel whilst having the support of a much larger global brand so to find out more please contact Katie on 01202 888986 ext 207.
