Allen & York are delighted to be working with one of the UK's leading construction companies as they look to recruit three Sustainability Managers to work on a high-profile project, two of them at Senior level and one at Manager grade.
You will be joining a dedicated Team of sustainability and environmental professionals working on this long-term defence capital works programme to upgrade the UK's strategic defence capability, and as the project has recently kicked off, it's an exciting time to join.
Your experience of working in the sustainability sector across a range of disciplines (carbon and energy, biodiversity, waste, responsible sourcing) will be required, but it's expected you'll have technical expertise in one of these areas in particular. In addition, you'll be adept at managing Environmental Management Systems in accordance with ISO14001, permits, licences and consents, providing training and driving best practice.
You will have the ability to manage numerous projects concurrently, have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, you'll be adept at converting complex. Technical information into an easy-to-understand narrative and you'll be able to prioritise tasks. It goes without saying that for the Senior Manager roles, you'll be able to evidence your team management skills and contributing to bids and tenders through the provision of technical expertise.
Due to the nature of the role and the department it sits in, a combination of construction and consultancy experience would be ideal, but out of the two, the construction experience is definitely required.
Given the nature of the site, you must be a UK National or hold dual nationality, with one of them being for the UK and if you hold (or have held) security clearance already, that would be great. Based near Reading, you will be required to attend the site three times a week so you need to live within a commutable distance but the remaining days can be conducted from home or an office, whichever you prefer.
